Monitored Anesthesia Care (MAC) and IV Sedation
Monitored Anesthesia Care and IV sedation help patients relax and stay comfortable during procedures that do not require complete unconsciousness. Patients continue to breathe on their own and may drift into light sleep while vital signs are watched closely.

“I have had the good fortune to work with Gram for the past 4–5 years. He has a great chairside manner and has consistently provided high-quality care for our patients.”

What Patients Can Expect
Before sedation, Gram Cotton and his team review medical history and the plan for comfort and safety. During the procedure, patients feel relaxed and may remember little of the experience. Most return home the same day with simple after-care guidance.
MAC and IV sedation reduce anxiety, improve comfort, and help keep schedules on time in an office setting.
Monitored Anesthesia Care (MAC) & IV Sedation – FAQs
Will I be awake during IV sedation?
Most patients are deeply relaxed and may drift in and out of sleep. Some are minimally aware, while others remember little or nothing of the procedure.
How is IV sedation administered?
Sedation medications are delivered through an IV and carefully adjusted throughout the procedure based on patient response and monitoring.
Is IV sedation safe for anxious patients?
Yes. IV sedation is commonly used for patients with dental anxiety or difficulty tolerating procedures while awake. Each patient is evaluated in advance to ensure safety.
How quickly does IV sedation wear off?
Sedation effects usually wear off within a few hours, but you may feel tired for the rest of the day. You will need someone to drive you home.
